"Mining dictates your ability to gather resources from mining rocks using pickaxes. Higher levels allow you to gather harder ores." - In-game tooltip

Mining is used to obtain ores and jewels that can be used in Smithing and Jewelrymaking. A free Tin Pickaxe can be found at the mining location south of New Williamsburg near the raider camp. Higher tier pickaxes can be purchased from Goldie in Frontier. A Stainless Steel Pickaxe can be crafted at level 60 Smithing.

Ore Nodes[edit | edit source]

All ore nodes require a pickaxe to mine.

Buried Mines[edit | edit source]

Buried mines are temporarily accessible, randomly generated mines. The locations are indicated by fillable minecarts. Mining ore around the area will eventually spawn a buried mine and will look like a cracked wall next to a sign. Ores mined in these will give roughly 20% extra XP. Ore nodes will permanently deplete over time, with each stage of depletion lowering the success rate, encouraging movement to different nodes to maintain the highest mining rates.

TNT is required to open the mines, can be made at a Tinkering Bench at level 15 Mining, and use 4 Bag of Sand and 5 Charcoal Powder as ingredients. The mines have a time limit of 175 seconds, after which a 30-second time period of falling stalactites may kill the player before fully closing. Using a Hammer on support beams within the mines increases the timer by 30 seconds.

All minecarts in the world are linked, meaning if you fill one, all will be considered filled. Minecarts have a max capacity of 200 and can only be filled with ores. A minecart spawns inside the buried mines next to the entrance and Yohnny. For the cost of 10% of the ores within the minecart, Yohnny will transfer the contents to the player's bank.
